Rem fans, rejoice, for you have been blessed with yet another figure. This is the Rem Birthday Lingerie Ver. figure from Kadokawa and distributed by Good Smile Company. I’ve covered a variety of Rem figures so far, and it’s nice to see that they’re making different versions of her, but I sure would appreciate it if other characters got some love too.
Anyway, this lovely new Rem figure is based on the above illustration by Shinichirou Otsuka, the novel’s official artist, which was used for a birthday event held for Rem in Akihabara this past February. Rem’s official birthday is February 2nd, and the event was held for 2 days on the 8th floor of the Shibuya Marui department store in Tokyo. The event featured special Rem and Re:Zero related merchandise exclusive to the event, but I digress.
The figure brings the illustration to life perfectly. Rem is sculpted with an innocent look that matches the light novel art style really well and is an excellent transition from 2D to 3D. Her “babydoll” lingerie is made with translucent parts to be faithful to the illustration and also includes a nanobead cushion with a design based off her hair accessories. I especially like that the cushion is real rather than being a hunk of plastic, and it gives you the option to display her with or without it.
Rem is set to release this November, but pre-orders are available now. She’ll cost you about $100 but the quality is definitely worth it. Reserve yours here:
