Today marks the release of Band-Maid’s music video for their newest song: Daydreaming! The music video is really well-produced with a lot of beautiful imagery and great shots of the girls solo and together as a group. It seems like they really focused on giving everyone a decent amount of screen time.
As for the song itself, it starts out quite mellow, but that is by no means a bad thing. Then Akane kicks in on the drums and Misa on bass, giving you a taste of what’s to come before slowing back down to Saiki’s smooth vocals. It builds back up to a crescendo at the chorus and the instrumentation is spruced up a bit more during the second verse with palm mutes and licks.
Kanami gets a great solo that starts at about 2:47 and ends around 3:08 – it’s short and sweet, but gets the mood across. Saiki’s vocals are strong as usual and Miku provides a soft backup. The girls have created what is a very moving rock ballad that shows off their varied talents.
Overall, I love this song and I think it is one of their best to date. This band just seems to keep topping themselves every time they release something new.
If you haven’t yet, you can still pre-order the new single which comes out July 19th!
