If you’ve followed my posts on Hobby Scratch you know that Re:Zero is one of my favorite series, so this is really exciting news to me. I’ve been purchasing all of the available light novels that have been translated so far by Yen Press and have been enjoying them a great deal. If you liked the anime and have not yet picked up the books, I urge you to do so because they’re excellent. We also don’t know yet when or if we’re getting a second season of the anime (here’s to hoping), but I digress.
Now, we have an announcement of a release date for Re:Zero Ex, Vol. 1., which is the first in a spin-off/prequel series that explores the backgrounds of different characters. The full original Japanese title is Re:ゼロから始める異世界生活Ex 1 獅子王の見た夢, or Re:Zero Kara Hajimaru Isekai Seikatsu Ex 1 The Dream the Lion King Saw.
The book explores the background and motivations of Crusch Karsten and Felix Argyle. I don’t know any specifics of the plot aside from that short blurb, but I am very interested in learning more about the characters and world of Re:Zero.
