If you are into Final Fantasy, Dungeons & Dragons, or just the fantasy genre in general, Rage of Bahamut Genesis is a show that I highly recommend. Even if you aren’t a fan of fantasy, this is a series that is worth a watch simply due to how well-done it is. Loosely based off of the ever-popular mobile card battle game “Rage of Bahamut”, this series is the perfect mix of adventure, comedy, friendship, and redemption, with a twinge of romance for good measure.
The visuals are amazing and for being such a short series, they really did a good job allowing the characters to develop and grow throughout the story. I find the character designs to be very unique and the main character is definitely not the typical “pretty boy” anime hero, which is extremely refreshing. I jokingly refer to him as “anime Ronald Mcdonald” (but I actually do like his design).
Supposedly Rage of Bahamut has been green-lit for a second season, but until then you can purchase the Limited Edition DVD/Blu-ray combo set from Funimation to get your RoB fix.
The set comes in a collectible box and includes a hefty 320-page artbook (Amazon mistakenly lists it as 32-pages, but I assure you this is not the case).
